A porcelain flower diffuser is a flower shaped from porcelain clay and fired, so it never wilts. You add a few drops of essential or fragrance oil to the centre; the porcelain absorbs the oil and releases the scent slowly. There are no reeds, no water and no electricity.

Yes. Each flower is shaped by hand from porcelain clay in Dehua, Fujian, fired in a kiln and then coloured. They are not resin, paper or preserved flowers.

Every petal is pressed thin between finger and thumb and set in place by hand, so colour and petal shape vary a little from piece to piece and from the photographs.

The peony is known in China as the king of flowers and stands for prosperity and honour. It is also called guose tianxiang, “nation’s beauty, heaven’s fragrance”, and appears on wedding gifts, paintings and porcelain. That is why a peony is given for new homes, new ventures, weddings and big birthdays.

In Dehua county, Fujian province, in south-east China. Dehua has made white porcelain for centuries; in Europe it became known as Blanc de Chine.

Lift the dome if there is one, add 3 to 5 drops of essential or fragrance oil to the centre of the flower, and leave it where you want the scent. Refresh every two to three days.

A few drops give a gentle scent for about two to three days, depending on the oil and the room. Add a few more drops when it fades. It is a quiet, close-range scent for a desk, shelf or bedside rather than a whole large room.

Any essential oil or fragrance oil made for diffusers. Clear, thin oils work best; dark or thick oils can tint pale petals over time.

Dust it with a soft, dry brush. Do not soak it or put it in a dishwasher.

It is a decorative piece, not a toy, and fragrance oils should not be swallowed. Keep it out of reach of small children and pets.

Delivery itself takes 7 to 12 working days door to door by air.

Shipped by air, DAP: delivery is quoted with each order, and you pay UK import VAT, any duty and the carrier's clearance fee on arrival (VAT-registered businesses can reclaim the import VAT). Allow 7–12 working days door to door.

Each flower travels in a rigid gift box with a fitted insert. If anything arrives damaged, send us a photo within 7 days of delivery and we will replace it in your next order or refund it.
